STAX SRM T8000 Electrostatic Headphone Amp STAX TOP OF THE LINE amp uses two 6922 tubes in the input stage and "Class A" solid state output stage. As in all things STAX the parts quality and construction are 1 st CLASS! The sound is amazing and with hi quality input is the best I have heard in headphones. I used a pair of Stax SR-009S and also a pair of Mr. Speakers VOCE electro stats . The SRM T8000 has 3 inputs available and also an internal level/volume control bypass so you can use an output on your preamp and control the volume thru the preamp. I used this feature to take advantage of a tube preamp. You can also run two pairs of headphones with the SRM T8000. I listened to various headphone amps at one of the New York City audio shows in the headphone room including several Stax amps, Blue Hawaii and Audio Valve and picked the Stax SRM T8000. Although the Blue Hawaii sounded very good the availability of current and NOS 6922 and the various variants including the NOS 6DJ8 tubes, plus the sound of the 6922 tubes and class A output without large driver tubes was an important factor in picking the T8000 over the Blue Hawaii. A pair of Stax SR-009S and Mr. Speakers VOCE are available and as stated above are excellent hi-end choices for this amp. Please inquire if interested. Factory box is included.
